St. Thomas Episcopal Church Vision Statement
Vision helps to give the leadership of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, a clear picture of what the church is to be doing for the work of ministry. We view vision as the result of God’s work in us. God, through scripture, prayer and education creates the vision, we receive it and implement God’s will through the members of the church. As St. Paul said, “For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it. Each builder must choose with care how to build on it. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.” To accomplish our vision, these are some of the things God has placed upon our hearts for the parish:
St. Thomas Episcopal Church seeks God’s will to be a church:
* Where people will encounter Jesus Christ through worship, prayer and community.
* Where people can learn more about faith as revealed in scripture through educational offerings for all ages.
* Where people enjoy developing Christian relationships with a diverse group of people from different backgrounds,
both racially and culturally.
*Where people can be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit to live out God’s purposes for their life.
*Where people will have the opportunity to use the gifts and talents God has given them to advance the kingdom of God.
*Where people who are marginalized or desperate in society can find help.
*Where people hear the call of God and respond through leadership, time and talent.
The leadership of St. Thomas desires the parish to be a place where people bring their innermost concerns, while at the same time living out their main spiritual aspirations. The parish is to be a great gathering community and most of all, a place that individuals and families can connect to God and with each other.
